Stress Robs You of Health

In Chinese medicine we call it over or under emotion.  If you have an 'over the top' or a lack response to things you feel you should be responding to.  These are two sides of the same coin. And not a good one.  Emotions left unchecked can lead to illness and injury.

What it looks like:

  • Feeling sad, hopeless or not enjoying things you used to enjoy

  • Frequent crying

  • Worrying or feeling anxious, nervous, jittery or stressed out

  • Trouble sleeping

  • Lack of appetite

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Feeling overwhelmed

  • Difficulty functioning in daily activities

  • Withdrawing from social supports

  • Avoiding important things such as going to work or paying bills

  • Suicidal thoughts or behavior

  • Inappropriate laughter

  • No response to good or bad news

  • Feeling a lack of joy or happiness when things are good

There is help!

Acupuncture helps regulate stress hormones and other hormones, it does it so well they believe this is how it helps with infertility.  Stress hormones can actually affect the functioning of the brain and nearly every system in the body.  Acupuncture helps by working to reverse the affects of stress.  Controlling cortisol and melatonin, helps with insomnia.  It works to fight against inflammation, lowering pain levels, but at the same time increasing endorphins and serotonin which gives people the "acupuncture glow" you can see after treatments.

Sometimes your body needs building blocks to help produce the appropriate responses.  That's where herbal formulas and diet step in.  Classic formulas have thousands of years of proven efficacy, tailored to your body.  Diet is also important.  There is so much confusion about what to eat and what not to eat.  As part of your treatment plan, dietary recommendations may be made, helping your body simply by eating foods that will help balance it.

Your body is the greatest healing machine.  When it is in balance, it quickly recovers from illness and injury.  When out of balance, stressed or chronically ill, it is slow to recover.  Take your health in your hands, help your body to become a stronger healing machine!
